As society becomes more mobile and wired, tanning salons must re-examine their advertising strategies. Investing an advertising budget on ads in newspapers, Yellow Pages and radio stations won’t necessarily reap the benefits of a decade ago. Today’s salon businesses need to extend their marketing efforts into social media outlets such as Facebook, Twitter, Groupon and text marketing. Sometimes the most-effective forms of advertising for salons are free platforms that just take an investment of time and energy, or perhaps a more savvy approach, such as purchasing Google AdWords.
