CA Teen Tan Ban Makes Headway

After approval by a number of Senate committees, a bill banning customers under the age of 18 from using indoor UV tanning services has been passed in the full California Senate. The final measure was approved with a vote of 24-9 and will now make its way to the Assembly.

Currently, the state requires parental permission for tanners ages 14-18, with a ban for anyone younger.

Some of the lawmakers who voted against the legislation expressed concern regarding the lack of scientific evidence linking indoor tanning and any health concerns.
