Lee’s Summit, Mo.-based Heartland Tanning announces a donation of $1,000 towards the American Red Cross’ efforts to rebuild the city of Joplin, Mo., following the destructive tornado that ripped through the region on May 22, 2011. Considered the deadliest tornado in 60 years, 30 percent of the city was destroyed, 125 people were killed and 700 more were injured when the tempestuous twister tore through the southeastern Missouri town.
Heartland hopes the donation provides assistance in the ongoing relief and recovery efforts for the city. “Every little bit helps; we encourage all to get involved,” states Tammy Reed, vice president of Heartland Tanning. Truly empathetic, the full-service indoor tanning distributorship makes its home approximately 150 miles away from the site of the devastation.
The American National Red Cross is a volunteer-led, humanitarian organization that provides emergency assistance, disaster relief and education inside the United States.
