CanTan hosted one of Canada’s largest gatherings of indoor tanning professionals at its annual expo, Feb. 12-13, 2011. The event drew more than 400 attendees to The Delta Grande Villa Hotel and Casino in Burnaby, British Columbia. This year, organizers tried a new format, switching to a one-day trade show. The expo and vendor presentations were held on Saturday, and then an optional educational day was offered Sunday, featuring Smart Tan and Norvell University trainings. The new format was enthusiastically embraced, inspiring CanTan to commit to the same structure for 2012.
Salon attendees had the opportunity to visit with the following vendors: Devoted Creations, Ed Hardy, Supre Tan, M.R. International, Norvell, Performance Brands, SynergyTan, Tan Inc., Eye Pro/Eyeswirls, Podz Eyewear, Cosmedico and JK-North America.
One of the most beneficial portions of the education program was an expert panel led by Jerry Deveney from JK-North America. And of course, salon staff were thrilled that more than $10,000 in prizes was awarded. In addition, a grand-prize winner won a SunDash 32/1 tanning bed valued at $7,400. The lucky recipient was Dawn Norman of Pacific Breeze in Powell River, B.C.
Saturday’s festivities were capped off with a cocktail party sponsored by Supre Tan, Devoted Creations and Cosmedico Light. CanTan reports that a great time was had by all.
