The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the organization tasked with regulating indoor tanning equipment, will host a half-hour webinar this Wednesday, May 26, 2010, at 2 p.m. Eastern time. The session is hosted by FDA's Center for Devices and Radiological Health (CDRH).
Scheduled speakers are Varsha Savalia, M.P.H., FDA tanning products compliance officer from CDRH's Division of Mammography Quality and Radiation Programs; and Sharon Miller, M.S.E.E., FDA ultraviolet radiation expert, CDRH's Division of Mammography Quality and Radiation Programs. They’re slated to discuss ultraviolet radiation, potential risks, and methods of minimizing risks related to indoor tanning.
There will be a Q&A portion after the presentation.
