Celtics’ Scalabrine: Get That Man A Tan!

A Boston sports radio show ran a “Get that man a tan” campaign linking an NBA player to spray tanning and an All-Star voting scandal. During his weekly appearance on The Sports Hub’s “Toucher and Rich” radio broadcast, Celtics forward Brian Scalabrine agreed to get a spray tan if the radio duo could rally listeners to cast a quarter of a million votes for Scalabrine to appear in the 2010 All-Star game in Dallas.

It’s rumored that many of the write-in votes for Scalabrine did not end up getting counted; however, officials did confirm that he received at least the 250,000 required to settle the bet.

The fair-skinned red head is scheduled to make good on the bet on February 24. The resulting spray-tan will gain national visibility, as TNT airs the Cavilers/Celtics game the following day. It’s uncertain as to whether TNT or other media outlets will air coverage of the actual spray tan process.

Although it’s uncertain how dark of a spray-tan application the disc jockey team has in mind, they have been drawing comparison to Robert Downey’s extremely dark-skinned character in “Tropic Thunder.” Scalabrine, who had to be convinced to go along with the bet, says of the spray tan: “I guess if I’m gonna do it, I’m gonna do it once, do it right, do it big.”
