Tanning beds in a privately-owned salon (The Spa) located in the University of Missouri-Columbia’s student center will remain open through 2010.

The university has been trying to get out of the contract since May 2008, citing health concerns related to indoor tanning.

In July of last year, salon owners Randy Dawson and Terry Wilson accused the university of a breach of contract. A judge recently ruled in their favor, stating that the school cannot end its contract prior to 2011.

The owners did not fare well in seeking compensation for lost sales during an imposed shut-down, however.
