The Baltimore County, Md., council introduced a bill seeking to ban tanners under age 18. A hearing will be held on Nov. 10 and the bill is scheduled for a final vote Nov. 16.

The legislation was introduced by councilman Vincent Gardina, who was quoted by the Towson Times as saying, "If it's bad, and the studies indicate that it is bad for you, then I don't think it should be allowed ... period."

Maryland law already requires parental permission for tanners younger than 18.

In September, Howard County, Md. also introduced regulations seeking to ban minors from using tanning equipment.
