Trading standards officers in Lancashire, England have called for a minimum age limit and tougher rules for tanning equipment following the news that the International Agency for Cancer Research has placed the equipment in the top category for cancer risk.
According to a report in the Lancashire Evening Post, chief officer Jim Potts said: "There is very little regulation of the use, sale and hire of this equipment. Other products which have the potential to cause harm, such as all domestic products, are surrounded by strong laws to protect people. I would like to see the same for sunbeds.”
