Those hoping to replace their gaz-guzzlers for a more fuel-efficient ride with help from a government subsidy have only hours left to take advantage.

The Cash for Clunkers program, which was originally slated to run through November, ran out of funds one week into the program, and then was boosted with another $2 billion from Congress. But the money still didn’t last, as thousands traded in their SUVs and outdated clunkers for newer cars.

Dealerships are pushing through last-minute deals today, as would-be rebate receivers have until 8 p.m. tonight to file their paperwork.

The country’s largest dealership chain, AutoNation, reported filing 12,000 deals under the program.
