International cancer experts have moved tanning equipment and other sources of ultraviolet radiation into the top category for cancer risk, deeming them as deadly as arsenic and mustard gas, according to reports from MSN.

Previously, tanning beds were described as "probable carcinogens," but have changed this standing following a new analysis that concludes the risk of skin cancer jumps by 75 percent when people tan indoors before age 30.

The new classification means tanning equipment and other sources of ultraviolet radiation are now considered definite causes of cancer, alongside things such as tobacco and chimney sweeping. The research was published online in Lancet Oncology by experts at the International Agency for Research on Cancer in Lyon, the cancer arm of the World Health Organization.
