The Public Health Agency of Canada plans to test the vitamin D levels of people who contract the swine flu in order to find new ways to fight the virus, according to an article in the Globe and Mail.
A number of university and hospital researchers, in conjunction with the agency, started investigating the possible role of vitamin D and the severity of flu symptoms last year before the swine flu outbreak. The agency said it has adapted this continuing study to the H1N1 outbreak.
