Texas Governor Rick Perry has signed HB 1310 into law, reports PR Newswire. The bill will prohibit the use of indoor tanning devices for Texans under the age of 16-and-a-half, and will require in-person parental consent for those between the ages of 16-and-a-half and 18.

The American Academy of Dermatology Association issued a press release applauding the state of Texas for being the first in the nation to pass legislation of this nature, calling it “the most restrictive law in the country."
