Jobless Rate Drops While Retail Sales Climb

Initial claims for unemployment dropped last week, reported the Labor Department. Claims were expected to clock in at 615,000, but 24,00 fewer were registered.

In May, retail sales rose instead of fell for the first time in three months (up .5 percent), according to the Commerce Department.
