According to a survey by America's Research Group, only 34.3 percent of consumers think the worst of the economic crisis has passed—52 percent reported that they do not think the worst is over yet. Other things to note from the 1,000-person survey:

  • Only 24.8 percent said they are more likely to make a luxury purchase of at least $500 than they were three months ago.
  • Price is considered a bigger factor in food purchases in comparison to last year for 74.2 percent of respondents.
  • For 73.7 percent, the U.S. government stimulus package has not made them feel as though they have more cash in their pockets.
