Forty-five U.S. economists from the National Association of Business Economics predict a modest rebound in the U.S. economy in the second half of 2009 with more growth in 2010.

Real gross domestic product growth over the second half of 2009 is expected to average a 1.2 percent pace, which is well below average. By 2010, the GDP should be growing at a 2.7 percent pace, which is comparable to its historic average.

Job losses, however, are expected to mount through the end of the year, though not as quickly as they have through the first and second quarters. Unemployment will top out at 9.8 percent and should decline to 9.3 percent by the end of 2010, the economists predict.
