Delaware lawmakers have introduced SB 90, a bill seeking to limit teenagers' use of indoor tanning facilities. The bill is also known as the "Michelle Rigney Act," named after a 22-year-old from Newark who died of melanoma last June.
The bill seeks to ban anyone under age 14 from using indoor tanning equipment, unless prescribed by a doctor. The bill also says that teens between 14 and 17 years old would have to submit a consent form, signed by a parent or legal guardian in the presence of the tanning facility operator, in order to tan. That consent would need to be renewed annually.
