If you’re a Twitter user and your account starting sending out Tweets on its own recently, it could be malware.
The worm—which sends out Tweets with the word “Mikeyy” in them—so far has done nothing more than act as a nuisance, and Twitter expects to fix the bug soon.
However, users are warned to be careful about clicking on links contained in other users’ posts. A service known as TinyURL is used to compress the URLs to keep them within the 140-character limit. However, that means that it may be unclear where, exactly, users are being sent. To be on the safe side, Twitter users should go to TinyURL.com and select the option that allows them to preview the actual URL before clicking on it.
