Lectric Beach Tanning Club, which has four salons in the metro-Milwaukee area, celebrated the grand opening of its newest flagship store early this year with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
The mayor and members of the New Berlin Wisconsin Chamber of Commerce gathered to officially make the cut, and the public was invited for raffle prizes, a light lunch, and free tours and giveaways.
The celebration was a leap of faith for the 21-year-old salon chain in southeastern Wisconsin, based on the belief that tanners will continue to spend in a lagging economy if owners take the time to update their facilities and bring in top-of-the-line equipment.
“It’s been a big move in scary times,” said owner Dion Borkowicz, “But one necessary for growth and success.”
