An Oklahoma senator has filed legislation to regulate teen tanning in the state. The measure would:

  • Prevent anyone under 13 from using a tanning facility unless the minor got permission from a doctor or the parent stayed at the facility during the tanning.
  • Require that teens between ages 13 and 15 visit a tanning salon with a parent (who would have to remain at the facility while the individual tanned).
  • Require that teens ages 16 and 17 provide a written statement from a parent in order to tan and be required to wear protective eyewear.
