The House voted to pass the $819 billion stimulus plan Wednesday, with a near unanimous vote by Democrats, and no votes from Republicans. The Senate will likely see the bill next week.

Democrats pushed the bill as the best way to jumpstart the economy and create new jobs for Americans feeling the devastating effects of the recession. The bill passed just after more than 10,000 jobs were lost in two days.
