There was an unexpected jump in existing single-family homes sales in December, reports BusinessWeek.
The increase is attributed to falling sale prices and more affordable interest rates, as buyers snatched up deals at the end of 2008. The national median existing home price was $175,000 in December—about 15 percent lower than it was in December of the previous year.
