A new survey, conducted by Ipsos Reid and sponsored by Marc Sorenson, reveals that a majority of Canadian women are unaware of their vitamin D levels; in fact, 97 percent of the 516 Canadian women surveyed had no idea what their blood level of vitamin D might be. The survey also showed 77 percent of women are not having regular vitamin D blood tests, also know as a calcidiol test.
Sorenson says this indicates the message about vitamin D is not reaching Canadians, especially women, despite the numerous stories and research regarding the importance of the vitamin and how it relates to overall health, especially breast cancer.
