Brian Higgins, a Democrat from Buffalo, N.Y., retained the 27th congressional district seat in New York yesterday, beating Republican opponent Dan Humiston 73 percent to 23 percent. Harold “Budd” Schroeder, the Conservative Party’s candidate, received 4 percent of the votes.
In a release e-mailed to his campaign supporters, Humiston said: "Unfortunately, things didn't go as planned on election night. We put up a good fight and worked really hard, but this time we came up short. I just want everyone to know how much I appreciate everything that you did. The support that I received was overwhelming and I will be forever grateful."
