The New York State Department of Health has published a notice in the New York State Register announcing a 45-day public-comment period for proposed tanning-salon regulations in New York.
The new regulations include changes to current regulations surrounding inspection and fees (such as a proposed $50 per-device fee to be paid on a biennial basis); injury and illness reporting, record-keeping requirements, patron-identification requirements, additional warning signs and protective eyewear.
The rulemaking process allows businesses affected by the proposed regulations a 45-day period to review the proposal and submit comments to the department. You can write or e-mail comments or concerns by Nov. 24 to:
