The ITA’s fifth open board meeting in Orlando, Fla., this March gave all ITA members the opportunity to join the board of directors for updates on the current affairs of the ITA and the planning of future projects.
On Monday, March 10, the board welcomed attendees from all sectors of the industry for a reception at the Disney Coronado Springs Resort. The next day's discussion topics included ITA financials, state and federal legislative activities in 2008 and PAC activities. The board also covered the upcoming 2008 election year and its potential impact on the industry, the activities of the research committee, the upcoming ITA board of directors elections and the timeline for the 2008 Tanning World Expo.
A representative of the Berman & Co. team was present to discuss the work his firm has done so far this year and to outline the schedule of the media campaign for the rest of 2008. To date, the Berman staff has conducted over 20 media interviews in various markets across the nation, particularly in key states where the industry faces potential danger from proposed legislation. Attendees also received copies and previews of television and print ads for the campaign—which they can reproduce in their own markets. Keep an eye out for more updates coming soon.
The next meeting will be held June 10 in Sandusky, Ohio. For more information or to RSVP, please contact Kellie Cowan at (202) 367-2392 or at (888) 377-0477. You also can e-mail admin@theita.com.
