Ultraviolet Resources International (URI), a nationwide distributor of indoor tanning lamps and lotions, has created a new business venture in conjunction with Cedarburg, Wis.-based Tan-U Ltd, a regional distributor in the upper Midwest. The new company, called Tan-U International (TUI), will be located in the same location as Tan-U Ltd.

Tan-U Ltd will continue to operate as a servicing and sales entity for tanning beds. Dave Myers, the current president of URI, will assume the position of president for TUI; Dan Skelton, formerly president of Tan-U Ltd., will become the new executive vice president of TUI.

As a result of the merger, URI is proud to welcome back Australian Gold and Swedish Beauty lotion brands, as well as ETS' tanning lamp lines. Australian Gold’s product research and development, along with its commitment to salon training, will help to solidify URI’s position as a full-service national distributor.

In addition to these changes, URI has purchased a larger building in Westlake, Ohio and is beginning the transition to its new headquarters. After the move, URI will double its warehouse capacity to 40,000 square feet.

“As the indoor tanning industry evolves into a more mature market, consolidation makes a great deal of business sense,” Myers said. “Tan-U and URI both have been in the industry for more than 20 years, and Jim, Kay, and Dan Skelton have been good friends and allies throughout those two decades as well. I can't think of another company which could result in a better fit, and look forward to working with Dan to cement the new company's position as a major player in the market.”
