Study: Vitamin D And Prostate Cancer

04/20/2009

Results of a recent study provided no evidence supporting the theory that high levels of vitamin D may prevent the risk of prostate cancer.

In the study, serum concentrations of 25-hydroxyvitamin D were measured in 652 prostate-cancer cases and 752 controls. Conditional logistic regression models were used to calculate odds ratios for prostate cancer risk in relation to serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D. No significant association was found between 25-hydroxyvitamin D and risk of prostate cancer.
