Tanning Salon Owner Fined After Patron Experiences Burns

As if you needed more incentive to despise coin-operated tanning ... The owner of a coin-operated, unstaffed tanning business in South Wales was recently sentenced in a court case. The victim was a 14-year-old girl who sustained 70 percent burns last year after using a coin-operated machine in a Barry, Glamorgan-based establishment.

After acknowledging multiple violations related to employment and safety, the owner received a sentence of one year probation, 6,000 pounds (UK) in costs and community service of 90 hours.
