Melanotan ‘Barbie Drug’ Laden With Side Effects

01/22/2009

An instant tanning injection in the United Kingdom is still very popular, despite having a bevy of side effects including depression, decreased appetite, nausea, facial flushing, panic attacks and skin tumors.

Many health experts agree that controlled UV light exposure has many more benefits and fewer risks than Melanotan, the instant tan drug that has also been dubbed the “Barbie Drug.” Bottles, which are not regulated by the federal government but are available in many pharmacies, sell for about 30 British pounds, or more than $40 based on current exchange rates.
