Warning: Maryland HB 1358 Has 23 Co-Sponsors

02/11/2008

Maryland’s HB 1358 seeks to prohibit owners, employees and operators of tanning facilities from allowing minors to use a tanning device unless the minor has a prescription from a physician or is accompanied by a parent or guardian. The bill also seeks to require owners, employees and operators of tanning facilities to acquire documentation before allowing individuals access to tanning facilities.

Currently, 23 delegates have co-sponsored the bill; seven of which are on the Health and Government Operations Committee that will be hearing this bill.

It is clear that all Maryland salon owners need to become involved in order to quash the mounting legislative support. To oppose this bill, contact your district delegates and the delegates on the Health and Government Operations Committee—particularly those who have already pledged support of HB 1358. Make your voice heard.
