Economic Sign Recession Could End This Year

The Conference Board's index of leading economic indicators rose 0.7 percent in June, the third straight month, a good sign the recession may end this year.

Seven of the Conference Board index's 10 indicators rose in June. Among them: an increase in new home building, higher stock prices and fewer people filing first-time jobless claims.

The index is meant to project economic activity in the next three to six months.
