E-Board Is Taking Off at Airports

06/08/2009

Electronic boarding passes, through the process known as E-Board, are slowly gaining popularity at airports in the U.S.

The process allows tech-savvy passengers to download their boarding passes to smart phone devices, such as iPhones, and then security and gate agents scan the phone to confirm the presence of the boarding pass. American Airlines recently expanded the program to Las Vegas McCarran, Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson and Minneapolis-St. Paul. Delta has expanded the service to Salt Lake City; it’s also available at Atlanta, Las Vegas, Memphis, Minneapolis-St. Paul, Detroit, Indianapolis and New York-LaGuardia.

In other airport trend news, baggage carousel ads are also becoming more prevalent. In this form of a marketing, a large adhesive graphic is placed on the moving portion of the baggage carousel.
