Devoted Creations & Copper Tans Team Up To Host Model Search

With tanning season slowing down, many salons are trying to think of innovative ways to generate new business and increase sales during the summer months. Nicole Flora, owner of Copper Tans in Succasunna, N.J., came up with a creative promotion—a model search—and enlisted the help of Devoted Creations to host the event.

“This is a promotion I had been thinking about doing for a long time,” Flora says. “Our salon staff already is used in our flyers and ads, so we decided to hold a search for the next model of Copper Tans.”

In addition to winning a year of Copper Tans modeling jobs, the winner also received a year of free tanning, $500 cash, an 8-day/ 7-night trip anywhere in the world, Devoted Creations lotion and a year-long gym membership.

Thirty-six contestants walked down the runway for the model search, throwing out samples of Devoted Creations lotion with Copper Tans business cards (good for one free tan) to the audience.

“The Stonefire Bar & Grille hit capacity—650 people—in one hour, and we had a 120-person wait outside just to get it in,” Flora says. “It was crazy! This was the best promotion we have done in the six years that I have owned Copper Tan. In fact, since the model search, business has more than quadrupled—this is definitely going to be an annual promotion. A big thanks to Devoted Creations—the company was more than generous with its donation of product for the event.”
