JK-North America held the 2011 East Coast Sun Academy Seminar in Connecticut at the Mohegan Sun Hotel & Casino on Monday, September 19. The latest prototype Beauty Angel red light unit was available for a hands-on demo, along with major industry vendors, educational presentations, event-only sales promotions and – as with all JK shows – a free luncheon and cocktail reception.

The East Coast gathering was the perfect event for salon owners who couldn’t make it to JK’s West Coast Tanning Expo in Las Vegas earlier this year. Jerry Deveney, executive director of sales, shares that the Connecticut show condenses the highlights of the Vegas show, allowing salon owners to still "get the education and product knowledge necessary for them to run their business as efficiently and profitably as possible.”

Featured presenters included Steve Holt, discussing how salons can benefit from social media, and John R. Farr on how to capitalize on the Internet couponing craze. Thousands of dollars in cash and prizes were also given away, including the grand prize of an Ergoline Flair 32/1 (MSRP: $11,010).
