Given the state of the Internet and the growth of smartphones, mobile websites are poised to replace traditional websites within three years, predicts one marketing company. It’s urging the owners of indoor tanning salons – and other businesses – to ensure their websites are mobile optimized.

Mobile websites are becoming an increasingly necessary tool as more consumers get their Internet information via their mobile devices such as cell phones, tablets and smaller portable laptops.

"In essence, the Internet as we know it is changing now and will continue to do so dramatically over the next two to three years," says Lee Weiner, co-founder of Tampa Bay, Fla.-based Direct Marketing Concierge (DMC), which has successfully launched direct marketing campaigns for companies of all sizes throughout North America.

DMC incorporates mobile websites as a key part of clients’ marketing campaigns, working to bring businesses into the next realm of the Internet now. The company is also a proponent of using Quick Response Codes (QR Codes), one of the newest technologies incorporated in marketing initiatives which go hand-in-hand with mobile marketing and enhance the user experience.

For example, a bar code on the back of a brochure or business card can lead a prospect to further information online. Business owners are printing QR codes on all types of materials so potential customers can scan and get further information on their mobile devices.

Staying abreast of trends such as these will help forward-thinking salons stand out in the changing landscape of cutting-edge marketing.
