eBossWatch ‘Outs’ Bad Bosses

FastCompany has highlighted an interesting – and sure to be controversial – new Web site, eBossWatch.com, which allows workers to “rate” (or rant about) their bosses. Especially interesting is the site’s National Sex Harassment Registry, modeled after the FBI’s National Sex Offender Registry.

So, in short, anyone can go online and post into the “America’s Worst Bosses” forum, the “Rate Your Boss” forum or the “Sex Harassment Registry” (though, to be fair, bosses can search potential job candidates during the hiring process to see if they have sex harassment issues that have been posted by former bosses or co-workers).

According to the site, it was launched in 2007, to “to anonymously rate your boss using a respectable and focused evaluation form so that job seekers can search for bosses at potential workplaces and can receive reports detailing the ratings that each boss has received.”

This reminds me of RateMyProfessors.com, a Web site that allows students to anonymously rate their professors, so that students making their class schedules can read up on how the class is likely to be managed (or mismanaged). The Professors site has often come under fire, however, for inaccuracy and irrelevancy. I imagine eBossWatch will, too. What do you think?
