Most business owners develop Web sites, and then sit around and wait for good things to happen. If this is your online approach, you probably will not have success with traffic growth, thus your Web site won’t be a money-making asset. If your business’s Web site allows people to purchase your products or services online, then you need to pay special attention, writes Danielle Babb for Entrepreneur. She offers two pieces of advice for boosting traffic and generating new potential customers. Neither of them involves advertising: 1. Become an expert in your field/product, and create a following of people who want your expertise. This will probably come through a blog, a social networking presence (i.e. Facebook, Twitter) or both. 2. Partner with complementary Web sites. Whatever it is that you sell, there is a non-competitor out there who sells a related product or service. Partner with that person, share ad space, share publicity and do whatever you have to do get Web traffic flowing between the two sites. Source: Entrepreneur: Don’t Just Hope for Traffic – Find It!
