Maintain Your Edge In Marketing

Much has changed in the consumer market in the past year—what worked before is not working now (and may never work again). What consumer once prioritized in making their buying decisions has gone to the back burner. American Express OPEN Forum offers six ways to make sure your marketing strategy keeps up with the changing market.

1. Keep your marketing materials fresh and relevant. Don’t hand out outdated or ugly brochures. Don’t choose a promotional product on a whim. Here’s a trick: consider what it would be like if you had to pay a fee to dispose of anything your customers or potential customers threw away. Hopefully it makes you think twice about what you order to represent your company—and how much.

2. Create a niche. All you need to do is wow one customer from a completely different market to unlock a huge new potential.

3. Be solution-oriented. Produce something your customers will both need and want.
