Glossary Of Terms: Lotion, “K”

The following is a list of common lotion terms and definitions. Special thanks to Australian Gold, California Tan and Designer Skin for their help in compiling this glossary.

Kamani Tree Oil (Calophyllum Inophyllum Oil)—An oil expressed from fruit of Calophyllum Inophyllum that has skin-conditioning, emollient, skin-healing, anti-aging and anti-microbial properties. It is rich in minerals and vitamins.

Khus Extract—See Vetiveria Zizanoides Extract.

Kigelia Africana Extract—This rare plant extract is used to smooth and tone the skin.

Kiwi Oil—See Macademia Seed Oil.

Kiwi Seed Oil—See Macademia Seed Oil.

Kokam Butter—See Garcinia Indica Seed Butter.

Kola Caffeine—See Kola Extract.

Kola Extract—This antioxidant will help neutralize free radicals to reveal younger-looking, healthier-looking and firmer skin.

Kola Nut Oil (Cola Acuminata Oil)—Oil from the nuts of kola. It’s a skin-conditioning antioxidant that moisturizes, and it's rich in minerals and vitamins.

Kombucha Extract—See Kombucha Tea.

Kombucha Tea—This skincare ingredient promotes skin plumping, skin firming and an even skin tone.

Kudzu Root Extract—This potent antioxidant soothes and rejuvenates skin.

Kukui Nut Oil (Aleurites Moluccana Nut Oil)—A skin-conditioning agent, emollient, moisturizer and anti-inflammatory. It’s rich in minerals and vitamins.
