The “Evolution” Of Reflectors

The performance of a high-pressure tanning lamp is directly related to the quality of its components, and the reflector is key. The Evolution Reflector (ER) is the new patented reflector from I.SO ITALIA S.p.A. and the result of forward-thinking research and engineering based on the company’s goal to improve lamp technology by increasing UVA and UVB reflection efficiency.

I.SO ITALIAS.p.A. has a history of dedication to quality design and product efficiency, ensuring its reputation as a leading international tanning bed and lamp manufacturer. It was founded in 1986 by the Zonta family when it expanded its existing tanning equipment operations into the commercial market by launching its own brand. Today, the company’s commercial network includes 11 exclusive authorized dealers in Italy and distribution in Australia, United States, Mexico, Japan, France, Germany, Spain, Portugal, Turkey, United Kingdom, Croatia, Serbia, the Baltic States and Russia.

The New Evolution Reflector

Installing an under-performing reflector in a high-performance lamp would be tantamount to watching HDTV on a black-and-white television manufactured in the 1950s and defeat the purpose of installing a lamp with superior performance potential. Therefore, the company made it a priority to engineer a new reflector to improve UV output and power to make its lamps perform even better. During the research and development phase, each and every aspect of engineering was diligently considered in an effort to construct the finest reflector imaginable. In fact, the company re-engineered its reflectors using special software in a high-tech European optical laboratory to create the ER.

“A reflector is one of the main components of a high-pressure tanning lamp,” says Valentino Astolfi , CEO of the Venice, Italy-based company. “The new ER maximizes lamp output and promotes optimum efficiency in our tanning equipment. Its task is to increase lamp efficiency and reduce energy consumption and heat production.”

This key lamp component was engineered to lower compulsion costs, decrease power consumption, improve diffusion, decrease heat emission, improve resistance characteristics, and make installation easier. The dimensions and technical characteristics of the equipment were designed to provide maximum return with the least waste of energy. Evidence of the company’s success is that ER performs excellently throughout its life–even when exposed to intense workloads.

Research & Development

To ensure it delivers products with superior performance, I.SO ITALIA S.p.A. keeps up with advancements in light technology.

“The study of reflector shapes and dimensions constantly is developing, especially regarding the way it connects with tanning equipment, because a reflector is never excellent in itself,” Astolfi says. “Its optimization directly corresponds to the structure with which it is installed.”

As proof of the company’s dedication to continually improving its reflector technology, it sets aside a portion of its budget exclusively for research and development to stay at the forefront of light technology.

Results Count

While it’s unlikely that tanning customers are aware of the reflectors installed in tanning systems, there’s no disguising a beautiful tan.

“Our reflectors are constructed to give a beautiful, comfortable tan with less heat,” he says, adding that not only does the ER help make skin tan, it does so while benefiting salons by lower compulsion costs, decreasing power consumption, decreasing heat emissions, etc.

“The ER has a long life, giving salons a better return on investment,” Astolfi adds. “These are key concerns of salon owners; therefore we constantly strive to improve in these areas.”

The company plans to continue to differentiate its products from the competition by addressing salon customers’ concerns and finding successful solutions.

“At I.SO ITALIA, we believe in investing in research and development to improve our products,” he says. “We strongly believe the tanning industry will benefit through our devotion to be at the forefront of light technology.”
