California Tan Sunless
Delivering Higher Sunless Profitability
by Judie Bizzozero
A creative force in the indoor tanning
industry, California Tan Sunless, identifies sunless industry trends and
provides products to promote brand recognition, results and salon profits. This
season’s introduction of the California Tan Sunless™ AutoBronzer™ Spray
Tanning Towers elevates the sunless experience to a sophisticated treatment
application virtually free of unwanted and unpleasant overspray, skin
over-saturation and the need to towel off prior to redressing.
The AutoBronzer’s unique
non-claustrophobic, open-air configuration features two functioning towers—one
for client spray tanning, one for client drying. The spray-tanning tower is
equipped with patented Atomized Polarized Spray Technology (APS Technology)—advanced
nozzle and electrostatic spray technology that delivers a reliably golden, even
tan, the company says.
The unit’s innovative design and engineering provides great
tanning results and is appealing to the consumer. The AutoBronzer is specifically
fine-tuned and calibrated for California Tan Sunless high-performance spray
solution to offer clients the best-possible results with a pleasant fragrance
and lightweight feel on the skin. Clients can choose from three spray levels to achieve their
optimal amount of color based on their body build.
“Our extensive consumer research revealed two largely unmet
needs in the sunless spray-tanning market: a reliable, great-quality tan and a
substantially more pleasurable spray experience,” says Wolf Heim, vice
president of marketing for California Tan Sunless. “After thousands of
successful AutoBronzer sprays, we know that consumers prefer the even,
natural-looking California Tan Sunless color, as well as the open,
non-claustrophobic, non-cloudy application.”
The unit is equipped with four self-cleaning, anti-clog spray
nozzles. Its patent-pending nozzle technology ensures that each nozzle gently
sprays a unique, finely atomized mist of sunless solution. The spray pattern and
positioning of the nozzles, combined with next-generation electrostatic
technology, allows for complete and even spray coverage across varying client
body shapes and sizes.
A push of the button activates the session, and automatic voice
commands guide the client through the spray and drying process that lasts less
than one minute. Solution is sprayed over the front side of the body and a voice
command instructs the client to turn around so the back of the body can be
sprayed in the same manner. The client then is facing the drying tower that
automatically activates and delivers a soft airflow to dry areas of the body
that may feel wet or damp.
Additionally, about 90 percent of the sprayed solution
efficiently transfers directly to skin for the best-possible end result. The
high solution transfer rate results in less overspray that creates a pleasant
tanning experience for the customer and requires only a simple, wipe-down
cleaning by salon employees between sessions.
“Salon owners want higher profitability from their stand-up
spray equipment,” Heim says. “Our new AutoBronzer technology delivers
substantially better session economics since it requires well over 50 percent
less solution per body spray.”
The system requires no plumbing or extra compressed-air
connections, which equates to a markedly lower installation expense for the salon
owner. The unit can be refilled with spray solution quickly and easily and uses
approximately 2 ounces of solution per spray session to achieve dark results.
The unit, as well as the professional collection of California
Tan Sunless products for in-salon and home use, is manufactured and distributed
by New Tan, Inc., a sister company to California Tan, Inc. The company held a soft launch this spring and officially
rolls out the AutoBronzer at this month’s Las Vegas Tanning Expo.
