New Product Duo Adds To JA's Legacy

John Abate International has been a highly regarded and successful manufacturer of vitamin-rich, botanically-based tanning and skincare products since its founding in 1984. Producing effective, quality products that deliver what is promised--formula blends that contain the finest, natural ingredients to reveal exceptional skincare and the best tanning results possible--has been the key to John Abat's success, says Al Lugo, JA's marketing director.

The company hopes to see its legacy of success continue with Meln Frapp and Citrn Sorbet, two new products from JA's Cte d'Azur line of tanning and skincare products that have received tremendous reception from tanning salon owners and tanning customers.

Staying One Step Ahead

Salons and tanners alike pay attention to new JA products because the John Abat International family of employees has a steadfast commitment and dedication to quality in all aspects of JA manufacturing operations, Lugo says.

"We were the first indoor tanning lotion manufacturer to produce all of our products in-house--from conception to the finished product--in an FDA-approved manufacturing facility."

The benefits of keeping all aspects of production in-house are considerable: extremely tight quality control in the manufacturing process, faster production schedules and reduced operating expenses. As a result, JA utilizes only the highest-quality (and most-effective) ingredient blends in all of its products to maintain their high standard of effectiveness.

With Meln Frapp and Citrn Sorbet, the company has reached a new plateau. Each contains cooling ingredients and its own aromatic, therapeutic fragrances that have received fantastic comments from salon owners for their ability to generate a sensory tanning experience as they soothe and rejuvenate the body, mind and soul along with the additional benefit of inhibiting after-tanning odor prevalent in tanning salons, Lugo says.

"Both of these products offer exceptional ingredient blends that provide beautiful tanning results and superior skincare," he says. "They contain JA's exclusive EuroVitamin Bronzing Complex, which is comprised of effective ingredients for dark tanning performance, and deep moisturization and antioxidant properties. Ultrasomes, a unique DNA restorative enzyme, prompts the skin's natural recovery system to minimize the visible signs of premature aging as well as to further stimulate melanin production."

Selling Quality

Meln Frapp and Citrn Sorbet have attractive price-points and will be available in a variety of sizes to provide even greater sales opportunities. Salon owners can choose sampling packettes, and 2-ounce, 4-ounce and 7.5-ounce bottles.

"With each of these products' exceptional ingredient blends, aromatherapeutic fragrances and unique tanning performances, salon owners will find both to be easy sales and will enjoy increased revenue for their salons," Lugo says.

Initially, JA conducted separate product clinics for Meln Frapp and Citrn Sorbet with participating salon owners and tanning customers. JA provided the participants free samples of each product and asked them to complete a survey form--the results of which allowed JA to evaluate all aspects of each product. The feedback helped the company determine what refinements the formulas needed.

"In addition, we instituted a direct-marketing sampling campaign on all the indoor tanning industry Internet discussion forums for each of the finished products," Lugo says. "For a limited time, salon owners were offered a free sample of these new products during their initial introductions into the marketplace. This program successfully created an interest in the industry as well as an aura of anticipation for these exceptional new lotions."

With 2003 on the horizon, JA will be expanding its salon-support programs. "And, of course, we will continue to create unique and effective tanning and skincare formulas with plans to expand even further into the skincare arena," he says.
