A recent TanToday.com thread revealed interesting insight into some indoor tanning salon owners’ holiday hours. Whether they are open for Thanksgiving or closed for Black Friday, each salon must decide which strategy is best for its market. (However, the majority of owners close down on turkey day.)
While many salons run one-day specials on Black Friday, regional salon chain Sun Tan City does so with a twist – donating all of its proceeds to charity. Sun Tan City has made a tradition out of the Black Friday event, annually supporting Marine Toys for Tots.
On Friday, November 26th, all Sun Tan City locations will run special pricing on tanning visits with 100 percent of the proceeds going to benefit Marine Toys for Tots. Among the specials are $1 UV and $5 spray sessions all day. In addition, during the month of December, the salons will serve as a drop-off center for anyone wishing to donate a toy or cash for the charity.
Sun Tan City operates more than 100 premier salons in Indiana, Kentucky, Maine, North Carolina, New Hampshire, Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia. In 2010, it was recognized as one of the 5,000 fastest-growing companies in America by Inc. magazine.
