Recently, Inc.com asked some top entrepreneurs their advice for survival. Executives from Whole Foods to Boston Chicken offered up their top tips, including:
“Bring back the fun.” -- George Naddaff, Boston Chicken
“Market more, not less.” -- Jenny Craig
“Pay for leads.” -- Paul Orfalea, Kinko's
“Plan for the upturn.” -- John Chambers, Cisco Systems
Naddaff says he brought back the fun by designing a costume that resembled a food product his company sells. His employees hit the streets in costume to hand out coupons and flyers, and passersby smiled, waved and enjoyed the endeavor.
While Jenny Craig’s competitors tightened the purse strings, the company spent a little more than planned to gain a competitive advantage.
At Cisco Systems, the company doesn’t get caught up in the bad news and depressing stats. They stay focused by planning for when things are looking up again.
