Fortune recently released its list of the “21 Dumbest Moments In Business 2008,” which is full of laughable occurrences that prove even the smartest minds in business can make the dumbest moves. Among the notable moments on the list:
- The corporate-jet debacle: Chief executives of the three major U.S. automakers spark outrage when they fly their corporate jets to Washington D.C. to beg Congress for a multi-billion dollar bailout.
- Reply-all mishap: Former Countrywide CEO Angelo Mozilo accidentally hits “reply all” when meaning to forward an e-mail from a customer to an employee, and calls the homeowner's request for help with his loan "unbelievable" and "disgusting." The reply ends up online, and Mozilo is out of a job after Bank of America acquires Countrywide in July.
