Online Exclusive: Fill Out The 2007 Top 250 Salons Surveys Via The Web
PHOENIX—LOOKING FIT® provides salon operators with another technological
advancement—the ability to enter their 2007 Top 250 Salons surveys online.
That’s right—no mailing or faxing forms or worries that your submission was
lost in the mail. (You still have the option of filling the form in and mailing
it.) Salons can access the secure site at www.lookingfit.com
and then click on
the “2007 Top 250 Salons” flashing button. The secure site allows salon
operators to register, choose a login name and password. This allows salons to
fill out the form (forms if there are multiple salons) and submit the entry
online. The site also allows salons to amend information if it changes before
the Nov. 3, 2006 deadline.
This new tool allows salons to enter the Top 250 Salons survey any time of the day from anywhere in the world. It’s just another service LOOKING FIT is providing salons to keep them up on the latest technologies to help business grow.
The 2007 Top 250 Salons issue will be published in a special Feb. 15 issue of LOOKING FIT magazine. To be considered, salons must fill out a comprehensive survey about their businesses and return it to LOOKING FIT no later than Nov. 3, 2006. Operators of multiple salons must fill out a separate entry for each location. Salons are considered individually to allow for a broad spectrum of factors, including the level of business in light of the size and type of salon. Eligible salons must be in business for one year by Nov. 3, 2006. Staff also will review surveys for new salon innovations.
For more information about the Top 250 Salons listing, contact Janet McCombs at (480) 990-1101 ext. 1603, or e-mail her at jmccombs@vpico.com.

N.J. Senate Passes AB 2936
TRENTON, N.J.—The New Jersey Senate passed Assembly Bill 2936 by a 30-0 vote on June 19. The bill seeks to institute statewide tanning salon restrictions for tanning salons and customers. AB 2936 was substituted for Senate Bill 1225, an identical bill. The bill has been sent to Gov. John Corzine to veto or sign in to law.
The bill seeks to prohibit minors under age 14 from using tanning facilities, and prohibit minors between ages 14 and 18 from using tanning facilities without the written authorization of a parent or legal guardian. The prohibition does not apply to emancipated minors.
New Jersey currently does not have an age restriction for using tanning facilities. The law also would require that a tanning facility operator conspicuously post a sign in the reception area stating: “PERSONS UNDER AGE 14 SHALL NOT BE PERMITTED TO USE THIS TANNING FACILITY. PERSONS BETWEEN 14 AND 18 YEARS OF AGE SHALL NOT BE PERMITTED TO USE THIS TANNING FACILITY WITHOUT WRITTEN AUTHORIZATION OF A PARENT OR LEGAL GUARDIAN.”
Penalties for violating the provisions of this law would be the same as for other violations of N.J.S.A.26:2D-81 et seq.,—$100 for the first offense and $200 for each subsequent offense.
The law also would include technical amendments to update references to the Department of Health and Senior Services resulting from the Governor’s Reorganization Plan No. 001-1996, and reference to the “Penalty Enforcement Law of 1999.”
For more information on these bills or for a list of the bills’ sponsors, visit http://www.njleg.state.nj.us/Default.asp, or for a complete listing of Legislative hotline numbers visit http://tanningtraining.com/reginfo/numbers.html.
