Lamp Showcase
The concept is simple: without tanning lamps, indoor tanning would not exist. This is why tanning lamps are one of the most important components to the overall indoor tanning equation. Tanning lamps have come a long way since the late 1970s, and today's salon owners now can choose form a multitude of lamp configurations and intensities. The following are some of the newest lamp offerings available from industry suppliers.
Black Sun USA
Black Sun USA introduces its newest lamps to the Reflex Series family of products. They include the 160-watt reflector lamps--Black Sun Reflex VHO/R and VHO/R PLUS--and 100-watt reflector lamps--Black Sun Reflex HO/R and HO/R PLUS. These lamps are built with unique phosphors for performance and lamp life, the company says, and use a 235-degree reflector to direct more tanning power to the tanning client.

Bronznet
Bronznet, a division of Ultrabronz America, offers a complete array of Heraeus tanning lamps and tubes for every salon's needs. The company highlights the Heraeus 20/160 Magic Sun tube. A winning combination, Magic Sun's 20/160 emits 46 watts of radiant flux (UVA) tanning power coupled with 3.4 percent UVB, which offers immediate gratification all clients insist upon. For further enhancement, the Magic Sun 23/160 has virtually the same radiant flux, yet another 1.5 percent UVB.
A new line of tubes with shielded cathodes has been introduced for vertical tanning units, offering extended life and the same high levels of output. These tubes come in two versions: VHR-compatible models and those with 0.5 percent additional UVB. Now in stock are facial units for the Ergoline series and other high-pressure applications.

Cosmedico Light, Inc.
Cosmedico has unveiled the CosmoSun 500 Series, new for Spring 2002. Designed for 500 hours of use, the lamps are ideal for salons with frequent lamp changes and/or those salons that want an economical lamp to carry the summer months.
The CosmoSun 520 is generally compatible with lamps used in 20-minute beds, and the CosmoSun 515 is generally compatible with lamps used in 15-minute beds. Both lamps are available in F73 100-watt RDC; F71 100-watt bi-pin; and F59 80-watt bi-pin.

New from ETS, Inc. are the Bronzing Sun and Dark Tan lamps.
