Q: thebeautybook is a huge endeavor. What goes into publishing it twice a year?

Q: The Nailco Group seems to be very involved in various charity events. How do you choose which charities to be involved with and how does your participation benefit the company as a whole?
A: We thrive on helping our local community as well as national organizations. In order to gain the support of our employees, we choose organizations they truly believe in. We have more than 250 incredible employees who, without their support, we would not have been able to raise the large amounts of money we have over the past 15 years.
Last year we raised $180,000 for the St. Vincent and Sarah Fisher Center (based in Farmington Hills, Mich.), the Center's largest contribution ever. This was accomplished through DREAMS, an event created and hosted by The Nailco Group. More than 550 people gathered for an afternoon filled with delicious food, a spectacular silent and live auction, and a celebrity fashion show. We also raised $125,000 for the American Cancer Society Breast Cancer Research division, which was accomplished through our Salons for the Cure program and participation in STRIDES. In fact, our upcoming program for 2002 will include tanning salons, and we hope to have a great response.
Q: What was the experience of winning "Entrepreneur of the Year" like?
A: Winning Entrepreneur of the Year was an incredible accomplishment. It takes a true visionary to win such a prestigious award, and it was made possible by the support of our dedicated employees.
It was fabulous to have our Executive Committee at the Ritz Carlton Dearborn when my name was called (TNG made the most noise of any company) and it was also fabulous to be in Palm Springs with all the finalists.
