JA Introduces Limited Edition Private Reserve

by Scott Hoover

A number of years ago, John Abaté developed an exclusive blend of the costliest select botanical extracts and advanced ingredients to form his own personal formula for accelerated tanning and luxurious skincare. An experienced virtuoso at formulating accelerators, Abaté formulated this lotion for himself and has only shared it with close friends and associates--until now.

Your Own Private Reserve

Today, Abaté has made this special blend with an exceptionally intense JA Tingle Factor™ available to the insatiable tanner who craves the definitive tanning and skincare experience by commissioning a serialized edition of his private reserve. Each box has been sequentially numbered and is exclusively sold to salons, to provide the most sublime tanning experience to the discerning tanning client.

There are a number of reasons that Private Reserve has become the first product ever released by John Abaté during the middle of the indoor tanning season; however, the most important is the quality of the lotion.

"John Abaté had five new products (four of which were accelerators: UltraViolet No. 22, Côte d'Azur's Crëme Brülée, Chocolait et Framboises and Mango Flambé) ready for the beginning of the 2000 season, so we felt Private Reserve was better timed for a mid-season release," says Inge Glees, vice president of marketing and sales for John Abaté. "In addition, it's such a special product, from its beautiful packaging to its fragrance, that it deserves a separate launch from our other products"

Glees adds that although this was the company's first mid-season release, it by no means will be the last.

"Due to the fact that the tanning seasons are beginning sooner and lasting longer each year, there's a demand for something 'new' in mid-season," she states. "I also believe that lotion manufacturers and wholesale distributors should dispense with the notion that tanning is such a seasonal market. This is really 'in the box' thinking and it's not very applicable to the tanning industry anymore. It's my belief that this 'seasonal' approach to tanning hurts the industry as a whole, from manufacturers to distributors to salons to tanning clients. We released Private Reserve mid-season because we perceived a salon market need."

Private Reserve uses Marine Chitosan, the latest natural ingredient that prevents the loss of moisture, increases elasticity and leaves skin smooth, soft and supple. In addition, Private Reserve also contains grape seed extract, a powerful antioxidant that strengthens fibers and promotes tissue elasticity to maintain production for faster tanning results. Other ingredients include maize extract, which dramatically increases skin cell respiration and energy for increased oxygen consumption by skin cells for optimum skin vitality and abundant melanin production. Additionally, vitamins A, E and B-derivatives combine with tyrosine to accelerate the tanning process to the next level. Finally, macadamia nut and jojoba oils help to protect cell membranes from environmental damage and to nourish and moisturize the skin so it looks healthier and more youthful.

According to Glees, the cutting-edge ingredients included in Private Reserve only are one reason that salon owners will want to carry this new product.

"One of the biggest reasons for carrying Private Reserve is the huge profit salon owners can realize," she notes. "Its MSRP is $75--so the salon stands to make at least $37.50 per bottle. It also is a limited edition. There were only 100,000 bottles created and filled for the entire North American market. (Each box has a sequentially numbered medallion--they begin at 000001 and end at 100,000.) When they're gone, that's it. There will be no more produced. I would encourage salons to purchase enough, because the limited number of distributors who carry it won't have it in stock for long. Additionally, this is John's own personal formula for tanning so you can be sure it is of the highest quality for the best tanning results as well as the best care for the skin. We only have made it available this one time in celebration of the year 2000. Finally, this product's elegant packaging, fragrance and luxurious texture (extraordinary tingle and tanning results notwithstanding) alone will sell the product."
